I was brought in to save a project at a large healthcare organization in its fourth year.

The team was at capacity. Leadership wasn't adding resources. The initiative had drifted so far from its original brief that nobody could explain why it had been funded in the first place — because the person who made that decision had left eighteen months ago. The rationale left with them.

I spent nights rebuilding reports, creating presentations, trying to give leadership a picture of something that was already beyond saving. It was making me cry. Before we built anything, we talked to the people living this problem.
